Best Ways to Triumph Your Emotions

When someone asks, "How are you today?" - it is almost a habit to respond with fine, good, or okay. How often do you pay attention to how you are truly feeling? What is your approach to releasing, and how often do you do it? Keep reading for energy-releasing activities you can start doing today.

Writing out what is on your mind can provide relief. If you tend to keep things to yourself, journaling allows you to express yourself without anyone passing judgment or remarks. It is like writing a letter from you to you. You can vent and release pent-up thoughts and misunderstood feelings. If you are new to writing, start with a simple prompt. For example, "What would you name the current chapter of your life?" Try to elaborate, and use colored ink or a funky decorative pen to make your writing session more enjoyable.

Is writing not your thing? Grab a canvas and paint! Painting is a popular group activity, but when done in solitude, have of a calming therapeutic effect. It is also a frugal activity if you don't have any supplies because canvases and paint are everywhere. Try using your fingers and paint to express how you feel. Match colors to your mood, and strokes to your thoughts. Be creative. The finished product isn't for anyone to understand but you. It is an expression of how you felt in that present time.

Do you have a family member or close friend you can call to vent? Sometimes venting to someone (that you trust) can release bottled-up energy. Verbalizing to a friend or family can help you feel better instead of holding it in and never knowing when you'll explode. Sometimes you may want to scream out at that moment to relieve. Find something that helps you feel better.

Have you ever sat and let all your thoughts and emotions fester? Eventually, you get so overwhelmed/congested with them you feel like taking your brain out and telling it to shut up. When you feel stuck in that mindset, it is the perfect time to go on a walk. Take your time and breath, bring your attention to your surroundings, and listen to the animals. Try it out, and be surprised how your mood could change on a 10-minute walk outside.

Exercise is a staple method proven to improve energy and mood. Grab your playlist, some water, and put in some work! Whether it's HIIT, lifting, cardio, yoga, Pilates, whatever gets you going and SWEAT it out!

Whatever you can do to get yourself out of your head. Be creative, have fun, and find relief. These are all activities I enjoy in solitude. They bring me peace in such a chaotic world. I hope you connect with at least one of the strategies mentioned.
